All Creatures Great & Small Tour

With the popularity of the new remake of James Herriot’s All Creatures Great and Small, let me take you on a private driver guided tour of many of the locations from the TV series.

We will visit Grassington which features in the series as Darrowby, exploring the Yorkshire Dales market town as well as taking in the Drovers Arms and Skeldale House. We will take a walk around the village and explore some of the other locations around the town.

We will also make stops at Helen’s Farm (AKA Heston Grange), the narrow bridge, the old church where James and Helen get married, plus Arncliffe village which also features as Darrowby and see the back of Skeldale House.

We will travel the narrow dry stone walled lined roads where James drives and also stop at the church where Helen stands up Hugh at the altar. As well as the locations I will bring to life the history and heritage of the area and you will get to see the stunning scenery in this beautiful national park at first hand.

If you are staying close to the Dales, there are also a number of other surprise locations we can see.

Unlike some tours based on the new series which include the World of James Herriot in Thirsk, this tour is un-rushed and prefers to help you immerse yourself in the Yorkshire Dales landscape.

You never know who you may bump into on our adventures!

This tour is a full day private driver guided tour in a 4×4 vehicle and the cost is £890 for up to 4 passengers.

Please note: As I live in Wharfedale, the time involved for me to collect in York and to travel to and from the Dales at both ends of the day makes it unfeasible for me to run this tour from York anymore. Unfortunately, in 2026  I will only be able to conduct this tour for people staying closer to the Dales in towns like Harrogate or locations in Wharfedale such as Grassington, Burnsall, Ilkley or Bolton Abbey.

I can recommend a couple of great guides based in York if you require.
