For families with children a trip to Billy-Bob’s Parlour at the Yorkshire Dales Ice Cream Farm is a real treat.
Firstly, we’ll stop at nearby Bolton Abbey and walk down to the stepping stones to play by the River Wharfe for an hour. Weather dependent we can paddle in the shallow water, dip our nets in with the hope of catching small fish or mess around on the natural sandy river beach.
By late morning move onto Billy-Bob’s Parlour – home of the famous Yorkshire Dales Ice Cream. The setting is breathtaking, with typical Dales scenery and lush meadows. All the ice cream is made on the working farm here, from fresh milk and cream from cows in the Yorkshire Dales.
The play areas at the parlour are something to behold. The sturdy, hand crafted wooden jeeps, planes, castles, arks, slides and rope swings provide a magical place for kids of all ages to build up an appetite!
We’ll take lunch inside the American themed 1950’s parlour & diner, which serves up a great choice of locally-sourced hot and cold food for all the family (and wonderful coffee served from an authentic shiny airstream!). And no trip to the Parlour would be complete without sampling some of the delightful ice cream itself – there are over 20 interesting flavours to choose from ranging from Key Lime Pie to Cotton Candy!
There will be a bit more time to explore the play areas before leaving to return you to your accommodation.
