After collecting you from your accommodation we will travel via the historic city of Ripon, through Nidderdale, across to the North Yorkshire market town of Pateley Bridge. After a short stop we will climb up over Greenhow Hill and its old leadmines, past Toft Gill Lime Kiln into the Dales market town of Grassington.
Here we will take a walk around the town which recently features as Darrowby in the All Creatures Great and Small TV remake. We will also take a stroll down to Linton Falls to see the stunning waterfalls cascading over limestone pavement.
From Grassington we will travel up through Wharfedale past the impressive limestone cliff of Kilnsey Crag, through Kettlewell and Calendar Girls country into Upper Wharfedale. From here we ascent as we pass Hubberholme, Yockenthwaite and Oughtershaw over Fleet Moss one of the big climbs in 2014’s Grand de Depart of the Tour de France into Wensleydale.
In Wensleydale, we will take a walk around the Dales market town of Hawes and stop to see the Wensleydale Creamery which makes the world famous Wensleydale Cheese.
After lunch we will continue our adventure, driving through Wensleydale stopping at historic sites such as Castle Bolton where Mary Queen of Scots was once imprisoned, past Aysgarth Falls and onto Middleham with its racehorse training heritage and see the castle ruins which were once the childhood home of Richard III.
Our final stop of the day will be a short walk around the scenic ruins of Jervaulx Abbey, one a thriving monastic house before making our way back to your accommodation via the brewing town of Masham.
