Our Heartbeat Country Tour not only takes you to the heart (pardon the pun) of the filming location, but also gives you a feel for the wider area of the North York Moors National Park with its large expanse of heather moorland.
Our day would normally start by driving to the village of Grosmont to pick up the Esk Valley line and travel by train to Goathland. If we are early it is an interesting little village in its own right and there is a great engine shed where you can view the old locomotives.
We will travel by train to Goathland. The station here has featured as Hogsmead in the Harry Potter films as well as featuring as Aidensfield Station in Heartbeat. We will take a walk around the village which doubled as the fictional 1960's Aidensfield in the TV series and visit Bernie Scripps Garage and the Funeral Parlour. You will also see the post office, stores and have a drink in the Aidensfield Arms pub!
We have two options here depending on monility and energy levels! A walk along a scenic track 4 miles back to Grosmont or catching the train back and saving our energy. Whichever option we choose to take we will head on to Whitby the inspiration for Bram Stoker's Dracula for a walk around the town and a well deserved plate of fish and chips!
